Just back from Zakynthos + tips for Greece

Hello Reader

If you've been following me for a while you may know that I have family connections to Greece, where my sister lives. She and her family run a couple of hotels, plus a growing portfolio of restaurants on the Greek island of Zakynthos.

Only last week I was there, basking in the Greek sunshine, checking out the local swimming spots and seeing what's new since my last visit.

This trip was mainly about relaxing and catching up with the family, but I did try the fabulous new restaurant Grace that the family recently opened in the town's main square. It's a must-visit if you are in Zakynthos this summer - the rooftop bar with cocktails and sushi is the coolest place to hang out in the evening! Check out my Instagram reel here.

In this newsletter you'll find a few tips to enjoy your time in Greece, as well as inspiration on where to go at any time of year - Greece isn't just the Acropolis and Greek Islands, although these are undeniable highlights!

Next time I'll be sharing some places that are fun to visit in London this summer. Until then, wishing you sunshine and happy travels.

Heather x

PS. If you want a place to stay in Zakynthos, I can highly recommend the two hotels run by my sister and niece - Windmill Hotel for traditional hospitality and Windmill Bay for boutique style by the sea.

Glasgow first impressions + sweet street art

Hello Reader It's hardly any time since I was in Scotland, enjoying the colourful rhododendrons and azaleas. Last weekend I was back again, this time on a trip to Glasgow. It's obvious from the grand and confident Victorian architecture that this was a city built on money, but not so long ago the decline of the shipbuilding industry meant the city developed a rather more gritty reputation. We noticed loads of building going on in anticipation of the city hosting the Glasgow Commonwealth Games...

Hello Reader As we head towards the end of May, the weather is warming up in Bristol and it's a great time to visit northern Europe. While I love the heat of Greece and Spain, I also appreciate that not everyone likes burning hot weather. If you are more of a cool climate lover, seeking sunny days but temperatures that are comfortable for sightseeing, then northern Europe is a great option for trips in May and June. In this newsletter, I decided to focus on some travel inspiration for...

Stunning Scottish Gardens - Drummond Castle

Hello Reader I'm just back from Scotland, where we spent a long weekend staying with friends and visiting some of the lovely Scottish Gardens. The area of lowlands around Perth has some glorious rolling countryside, where the soil is perfect for the colourful azaleas and rhododendrons that we saw flowering in all the gardens. This newsletter includes my impressions of three very different gardens that we visited, including Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the late Queen Mother. Talking of...
